NWDP 2026 | Monday 21 September | 20 years of the CRPD and National Sign Languages

🧡 NWDP 2026 | Monday 21 September
📣 Today’s theme: 20 years of the CRPD and National Sign Languages

20 years. One big question: are the rights real yet? 💬

To begin National Week of Deaf People, we’re reflecting on 20 years of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and what meaningful access looks like in everyday life.

For Deaf people, rights become real when they can understand, participate and decide. Access starts well before an appointment, meeting, lecture or community event.

Turn recognition into action:
✅ Ask about access needs.
✅ Book qualified Auslan interpreters early.
✅ Share preparation materials in advance.
✅ Include access from the start.

👉 Swipe through to explore the access gaps and how to help close them.

Follow along through 27 September as we explore a different theme each day.

Sweeney Interpreting can help you plan meaningful Auslan access. Let’s make access real, together.
