Sweeney Interpreting Fee Increase effective 28 February 2024.

 

1.      Existing Bookings

If you have already bookings that will happen on or after 28 February 2024 – the new fee will be charged.

 

2.      Bookings Cancellations

To cancel your bookings without being charged, you can cancel your bookings by:

 

a)      SweeneyApp

If you are registered with SweeneyApp, cancel at least 24 hours before the job start time.

 

b)      Bookings Office

To cancel bookings by email, SMS, etc, cancel at least 24 business hours before the job start time. Our office hours are 9.00am to 4.00pm Mondays to Fridays (except for public holidays).

 

For bookings not cancelled within 24 hours of the job start times, the full fee will be charged.

 

3.      Bookings with Quotes

If you have accepted a quote for your bookings occurring on or after 28 February 2024, we will honour the quoted fee.

 

4.      Bookings - additional services/charges

a)      Number of interpreters

Usually, two interpreters are needed if the booking assignment is more than an hour.

Additionally, at times, two interpreters are needed for a booking under 1 hour where the job is dense or has many people involved.

If an interpreter is working on their own, they will need a 10 minutes break after 45-50 minutes continual interpreting.

The bookings team will work with you to ensure that you have the correct number of interpreters for each booking.

For conferences, three interpreters may be required depending on the content and length of the conference. Please contact us to discuss further.

 

b)      Bookings that are live streamed and/or recorded

If your booking is to be livestreamed and/or recorded - we must know ahead of time so that we can let the interpreters know.  If we are not aware of bookings with live streaming and/or recording, the interpreters reserve the right not to do the job, however we may still charge you for the booking.

 

c)      English<>Auslan translations + performance interpreting

Please contact our booking office to discuss your needs.

 

d)      Travel charges

There may be additional charges if your booking location is more than 100km return, from the interpreter’s residence. Charges include travel time and per kilometre.

Accommodation and meal allowances may also be charged if needed.

You can ask for a quote for bookings with travel charges.

 

e)      Technical checks/ early arrivals

If you need the interpreters to arrive 30 min before the start of your event or you need technical checks done in preparation for your event, please let us know in advance - there may be an additional charge for this.

 

f)       Changes to bookings within 24 hours

You will be charged if the interpreter can no longer do the amended booking, for example:

i) the booking time is shortened or changed to a later time/another day

ii) the booking address is changed 

 

 

g)      Making last minute bookings on the SweeneyApp

You can make last minute bookings on the SweeneyApp and communicate directly with the interpreter.

Last minute bookings includes:

i) when the bookings office is closed

ii) bookings made during business hours but with less than 2 hours’ notice

iii) new bookings made for that weekend and/or public holiday/s

 

Last minute bookings do NOT apply if you have made out of hours bookings in advance.

 

h)     Customer does not attend or is late for the booking.

If the customer does not attend the booking, you will still be charged.

If the customer is running late, the interpreter/s may be able to extend their time if they are available.

 

i)        Parking Costs

There may be times we will contact you to negotiate payment of parking costs incurred by the interpreter. We will do this before the booking goes ahead.

 

j)        Preparation Time

For bookings that require preparation time, this will be an additional charge. We will discuss this with you on a case by case basis.

Examples include:

i) content research is required to ensure the right interpreting/translation

ii) conference papers to be read to become familiar with names, terminology, concepts

iii) legal work (court hearings, mediation, client briefings/statements)

iv) conferences or large webinar/live streamed events

 

5.      New fees effective on and from 19 February 2024

All fees are ex-GST. GST is 10%. NDIS related bookings do not attract GST.
